James Eller was never a professional athlete. In fact, with the exception of his childhood tee-ball league, he never played an organized sport in his life, and while he may never sign any endorsement deals, he’s kept himself in reasonably good shape for over forty years. Well, to be fair, the beauty of the Black Hills and his dog, Zax, have played an important role in his overall good health.
James, also an avid rock climber, has been hiking and climbing through western South Dakota since he was a child and certainly never had any thought of a condition called plantar fasciitis. Up until recently, James only had mild pain in his lower extremities from what he assumed was the natural progression of middle age. However, the pain in his heels and arches of his feet had become significantly more pronounced and he was finding it more and more difficult to keep up his active lifestyle.
Planter Fasciitis is a painful inflammatory condition of the connective tissue on the bottom of the foot, and affects about 10% of the US population every year. James made a nearly perfect candidate for this affliction since it is often caused by years of accumulated injury to the foot either unbeknownst or ignored by the active individual. Weight bearing and body mass index are factors as well.
Almost an entire year of debilitating pain went by before James finally decided to look into medical treatment or at least a way to decrease the pain in his feet. After several disappointments with heat, cold, and massage therapy, and only mild relief with corticosteroids, he came across the The X-Brace and gave it a try. Finally, he got relief from the pain of simply standing and walking, and in short order, he was able to return to his nature hikes with Zax and traversing the wilderness in his spare time. “Who knew a simple elastic support around the foot could do so much?”
You don’t have to be an athlete or a mountain climber to be afflicted with planter fasciitis. Maybe you like to jog, play disc golf or racket ball, or maybe you actually are that beat cop that spends all day on his/her feet. Consider using The X-Brace. James Eller is now a vocal champion of the benefits of The X-Brace and wears it nearly every day. “I never leave home without it!”
